There are many different medications now available to manage ADHD. Some work differently from others. Due to these differences, it is possible that one medication works better or worse for you than others. So if you are taking medication for ADHD and you find it to not be helpful (after a trial of a few months) , ask your psychiatrist to try a different one.
Medication can help manage the biological symptoms of ADHD, such as, lack of concentration, distractibility, racing thoughts, restlessness, impulsivity. They cannot help you with negative thought patterns, or other personality traits that you might have developed as a consequence of your experiences with ADHD.
