There is a misconception that grief only occurs with a death of a person. This is incorrect. Grief can also occur with the death of a relationship or an idea. An idea of the life you were supposed to have or could have had. When that goes away or is taken away, it is natural to go through the different emotions related to grief. So make space for these emotions. It is okay to feel sad or angry about a relationship ending, no matter who initiated it. No matter what the relationship was like. Take your time with those emotions, they are there to remind you that there has been a loss.
