The adults of today didn’t learn at school or at home to manage emotions. This is unfortunately true for the majority of people. What is also been scientifically proven is that stress (the general word for emotional distress) is behind just about all illnesses: from psychic discomfort to physical sicknesses.
If we could manage emotions better, we could manage stress better and if we could manage stress better we may become tangibly less sick both psychically and physically. Wouldn’t that be something to work happily towards?
I feel privileged that I can contribute to better emotion management with my work as therapist and seeding these blogs online. So if you want follow me in this journey. As it is a journey. I may have learned to manage emotions better than other people I meet, however, it remains a learning curve to be surfed.
Managing emotions is about exercising the skill of baring the emotions, looking at them and holding the leadership over them while embracing them with care and compassionate love. You become better at it with practice, however, you keep learning how to do it ways that reflect your growing level of consciousness and wisdom. That is my experience.
It is a loving journey inside that brings you home to yourself, to who you really are, what is really important for you and what you really want to be and to do with your life.
Being comfortable with your emotions because you can manage them means feeling self-assured, confident, open and friendly, decisive and energetic.
The alternative is often overwhelm, feeling fear, discomfort, sense of failing or never being good enough, up to the task or satisfied. The smartest among us know how to hide all this, but you know is there and you may have notice it doesn’t really get better with time.
This is why it is important to manage emotions, to get your inner power back and being able to use it.
How to start the journey or continue it if you are already working at this?

In its simplicity, this is the single most important act you can do in order to change the relationship between you and your emotional world. Be honest, at least with yourself, about what emotions are present right now inside of you. The body is where you can notice them in the form of sensations.
