Here is an exercise you can do to explore how you currently organise your space, and some reflection questions to help deciding how to re-organise it:
Where’s my Stuff?
1. choose two separate areas in your home (your desk, your kitchen counter etc.
2. go to one of these areas and observe all items present.
3. Write down all items that don’t need to be there/aren’t necessary for the tasks you complete in that area (If you start making excuses for why certain things are there, then they most likely don’t belong there)
4. repeat 2 and 3 for the second area
5. Write down your reflections on this exercise:
• Were there many unnecessary things there?
• How did you feel about the unnecessary things?
• How did you feel about removing them?
• How did you feel about the necessary things?
• What have you learned about your space that you want to remember?
